The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship returns to the historic surrounds of Diriyah and the historic desert surroundings of the UNESCO World Heritage site for the third season in-a-row, and this time we're set for spectacular double header in the dark as Saudi Arabia plays host to Formula E's first night races.
Formula E will once again use its platform to share a #PositivelyCharged call-to-action, reminding fans that even the most intense, unpredictable racing can take place without the environment paying the price.
The latest low-power LED technology will reduce energy consumption by up to 50 per cent compared to non-LED tech. The remaining power for floodlighting will be fully renewable, provided by low-carbon certified hydrogenated vegetable oil made from sustainable materials.
Sam Bird flew out of the blocks to take the win for Envision Virgin Racing in the first race of the season-opening Diryah double-header in 2019/20, with Alexander Sims (then-BMW i Andretti Motorsport) following up with victory in Round 2. The battle of the debutant German marques saw TAG Heuer Porsche open its podium account via Andre Lotterer in its maiden E-Prix, and Stoffel Vandoorne matched that feat on behalf of Mercedes-Benz EQ, following up with second trip to the rostrum in race two. Who'll handle the Saudi heat most effectively this time around?
